Anybody else hear about this discovery of two new salivary glands hidden at the base of the skull? Here is a link to the article in NY Times from yesterday if you have a subscription.

In summary, the article says because we didn't know about them, they are likely getting damaged during radiation treatment. If they could save them, possible significant improvements for dry mouth, swallowing, etc. for oral cancer patients who receive radiation treatment.
Blows my mind to think our doctors have possibly missed something so simple for decades. I plan to ask my ENT about it during my next checkup.
