I have a question for you guys...At night time I sweat profusely, it's like I took a shower in my PJ's and came back to bed. It's like catch-22, I'm covered up then I sweat then I kick the covers off then catch the chills, cover myself up again then start sweating all over again. My hair is completely wet, I'm soaked...It gets me a little worried because when I was having issues with my tongue before diagnosis I was sweating a lot during the night. After my surgery and during radiation the night sweats subsided..they're now back. Could it be the goose feathered filled blankets and pillows that come out during the winter months?

Do any of you have a problem with night sweats?

Are you taking salagen or such to stimulate saliva production. If so that is likely the reason and you might want to lower the dose.
(as always consult your physician)

Ray, I have sweats once and a while. I have an electric blanket which feels great at first but by the middle of the night is too hot even on the lowest setting. You might just have too good a blanket. Be aware that night sweats can be a symptom of illness. I know that my sweats seem to be related to thyroid med. issues.

I did too while I was on medication and for awhile after coming off of them. Its your body readjusting itself... k

Get your thyroid checked or at least your TSH levels. I had the same exact identical (get my point) symptoms and my thyroid had taken a tank so now I just take a daily pill that makes a difference.

Thank you guys...I see my RO on December 31st and I'll bring it up to him. I didn't use the down blanket just the sheet last night and everything seemed okay. But, guess what? I woke up today with probably the worst case of lymphedema, primarily on the side of my neck dissection. I don't know if it's a coincidence or not with not sweating. I look like I'm storing nuts on my left side of my face/neck like a chipmunk...just not as cute.

Btw, food doesn't taste putrid anymore...the flavors are not great but at least they don't seem rancid.

Hi Ray,
I've been having sweats too (day and night), but they seem to be easing off now. I had put it down to Menopause but this thread has me thinking that there may be more to it. I don't think I've had my thyroid function tested all. Perhaps I should. I've also been getting increasingly lethargic - but I've put that down to a combination of being back at work and Christmas. I will see how I feel in the New Year.
I finished treatment in late July and there are some foods that still do not taste 'normal' - but apart from spicy stuff I'm now enjoying everything that I did before my treatment. Your taste will continue to improve for sure.

Just wondering Ray if you got any response about your sweats at your appointment...I don't necessarily sweat but get real hot I too Sue am contributing it to Menopause but I was just curious cause I never had radiation...my treatment was strictly sugical...

Dianne,

I stopped using the down comforter and the sweats disappeared. I use a sheet and a regular blanket and I seem to be fine. I also stopped using a down pillow and my head stopped sweating. I suppose I can't use down. Since the night sweats are gone my RO is not concerned.
