Hello everyone.
Yesterday i woke up with a sore throat so i looked in my mouth to see if my tonsils were swollen and i noticed a small flesh coloured mass on the left side next to my tonsil. could this be cancer? what are the possible things it could be? I took a picture but i’m not sure how to insert it here

Hi there.
I'm so sorry that you're worried about your tonsil. We're all either patients or carers of OC, not Dr's or specialists. It will be much better to get it checked out by a professional.

Please do not post pictures! As a group of regular everyday people who had the misfortune of becoming oral cancer (OC) patients/survivors and/or caregivers without having any formal medical education or training. We would NOT ever be able to diagnose anyone by looking at a photo over the internet!!! Even the most skilled medical professionals arent able to do that. Only thru a biopsy would anyone be able to tell you exactly what it is.

If anyone has a sore, bump, lump, red or white (occasionally both red and white) patch or anything else that doesnt belong there for over 2 weeks, then its time to see a professional. Preferably an ENT who specializes in treating oral cancer patients. is something we say around here. Sometimes a spot is just a spot and Dont borrow sorrow from tomorrow are a couple other ones that we use.

Theres all kinds of different things that can pop up from time to time in the general populations mouth that are not at all serious. Sometimes the area of concern is painful other times its not which is why its often not noticed right away. This frequently happens to just about everyone and does NOT mean you have cancer or any other serious illness.

Hopefully your spot will turn out to be nothing major, best wishes!!!
