Hi!

I recently have been experiencing mild pain around my lower left wisdom tooth. My dentist has told me I have a plenty big enough jaw for it to come through previously, so I don't think it is impacted, and now I've just noticed this dark area at the back of my gum. Is it infected? Help!

Thank you!!

Any sore that is in your mouth for 2 weeks or longer needs to be checked by a professional. I suggest seeing an ENT (ear, nose, and throat specialist). Im sorry but its not possible to diagnose over the internet even with showing photos.

Hope its nothing serious! Best wishes!!!

If you think the tooth's infected, you need to see a doctor ASAP, preferably an ENT, as Christine B mentioned. The bacteria from a tooth infection can easly go into the blood line, and you can get sepsis. The dark spot you said was black needs to be checked also.

Good luck.

As a past dental assistant, sometimes when molars are erupting you can get a small blood blister where the tooth is trying to break through. Just a thought, but you should definitely get it checked by a professional.

A fever is a sign of an infection. I agree with Paul, if you think you have an infection in your mouth see a doc right away.

Good luck!
