Hi All,

5 Weeks ago, my brother (Age 43) has been diagnosed and operated for OC Stage 4.
Waiting for his Radiotherapy and Chemo to begin.
Meanwhile the Medical Oncologist suggested for Targeted Therapy which is expensive than regular Chemo.

My question is what are all the things I need to know about Targeted Therapy and how it is better than regular Chemo.

Thanks

Welcome to OCF, Jambai! Im sorry to read about your brother having oral cancer (OC). OCF is made up of OC patients/survivors and caregivers who have been thru OC diagnosis, treatments and recovery. What we've been thru and learned first hand, we will try to pass along to help both you and your brother with info and support.

We dont often hear much about Targeted Therapy. Im sorry, I do not know whats behind why Targeted Therapy isnt used more often. OC is not like other cancers where the only way to eliminate it are thru surgery and/or radiation with or without chemo. By itself chemo can help shrink tumors but not completely eliminate them. Heres a few articles from the main OCF site which you may find helpful. They following articles I found on the main OCF site, they're a few years old. Hopefully the info is still relevant and not out-dated.
