If you are at all concerned that a mouth sore or lesion is or could be cancer, please see an M.D. or an E.N.T. and not a dentist. While dentists should be able to identify a cancerous lesion, it was my mother's experience and has been the experience of others that not all dentists do identify them correctly. It sounds like your worry about your mouth sore keeps nagging at you. I think it would be worth the time and the peace of mind to consult a medical doctor. Good luck with quitting.

And from me a strong second to that advice. My FORMER dentist assured me that the red spot on my gum was nothing to worry about. Some months later an ENT proved him wrong. Sandra is absolutely correct.
