My husband felt pain every time j tube is used to get meds, anyone had similar problem?
I suggest calling your husbands gastro doc or whoever he went to who originally placed the tube. He needs to get checked out as soon as possible. Unfortunately patients who are new to using a feeding tube quickly find out theres not much support to help them adapt to using the tube. Feeling pain when putting medicine thru the tube should NOT happen! This could be a serious problem! Your husband needs to get checked by his gastro doc to make sure there isnt something wrong. Feeding tubes can get dislodged very easily. Trying to force something thru the tube when it is out of place can bring all kinds of other issues along with very sharp, intense pain. Ive had this happen and know all too well it can cause incredible pain!!! The pain was horrendous and became worse with each attempt to put anything thru the tube.
