My husband is going on 8wks post Rads and still has the darn mucous. He is so frustrated by it. I pray every day it wil start to subside. I guess everyone is different. It seems to last and last! He says he is stilll achy and has no energy. His last chemo was 6/11 Amen! I told him his body has gone through hell and is in shock.Onee day at a time! I feel for you both. LJ

Mommapez

I can not elaborate on this as I will start TX next week.

But the one glaring aspect that jumps out at me is why is he still in PAIN?

There are pain meds out there that are 100 times stronger than morphine......

I am clueless on this one.....

The thick mucous is extremely annoying but it will subside. Keep wiping it out with a kleenex and get plenty of fluids.

I had bad mouth pain, the kind that was only dulled by prescription pain meds, for a few months after radiation ended. In fact, I still have a very sensitive mouth 2 years later and may always have it this way according to my ENT (but don't worry-most people are fine 2 years out)

And I also had lots of mucous also for months. In my case, though, I think the mucous seemed worse because I wasn't swallowing most of it--which was actually the first clue that I had a more serious swallowing problem overlooked by everyone at first. So I would recommend if there still seems to be a lot of mucous a couple of months out, and you haven't had a swallowing test, that you get one.
