Well, rain and all I made it to Los Angeles. They called us and told us to come in early, but didn't take Dad back into surgery until even later than the original time! Poor guy was laying on that gurney waiting nervously for 3 hours!!! It was awful. Needless to say, the Dr felt the surgery was a success. He is still in the hospital, and I am still in LA w/Mom. It was a long rough day yesterday and I am exhausted, as is she. I hope the actual usage of the PEG is as successful as the insertion. Dad has lost a lot of weight just since last weekend when I was here. He looks awful. frown

Well, off to the hospital now. Thank you all for your kind words. I will keep you updated on how it goes.

I am glad the surgery went well and that you stayed there with your mom. I imagine the 2 of you had a rougher day than planned. I sure will be looking for an update from you as well as others will. If what everyone that has a peg says is true, your dad should be putting some weight back on. Have a great day and may everything be positive.

Saw Dad today. Looks better now that they have that lovely cocktail of "food" running into him! wink He was getting so dehydrated. He was also little giddy from the pain med's too. smile They have not had him get up yet, want him resting. Can't even drink water yet. They have not tried the PEG yet either, guess the nutritionist comes tomorrow. Mom made me drive home today, there is a big rain storm-a-comin'... makes her nervous when I drive in it. HAHA

I'm glad you made it home safe, have been keeping an eye on the weather channel and thought of you driving!

It must have been terrible to be called in early, then wait 3 hrs to get the surgery started, but what a relief it must be to see him looking better now, and his pain managed.
I hope you get a good nights sleep!

Its great news to hear your dad finally has the PEG tube and is looking better. It will now be much easier on him with the right nutrition.

Thanks for the update. I was watching the weather channel and saw the nasty stuff heading your way. Was glad to see your mom sent you home and you made it with no problems. Give your dad my best and have a good day.
