I got a letter from the USWA the other day. They are changing Ins Cos too. I tried to find out if The James Cancer center will be covered by them and couldn't get a straight answer. It seems I'l have to fill out some forms with the Drs etc to send them . They will call all the ones I list and see if it will if they will accept what this Ins will pay. Always something to worry about it seems.

Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April.

Jim ,

Don't I know that one . I spoke to the benefit coordinator for my husbands Company ( They hire out) and he assured me there was nothing to worry about as far as a "pre-exsisting clause" condition . Then told me that He couldn't Guarentee me there wouldn't be some problems somewhere along the way.

How Nice for me I told him . I was Just gettin used to what the old ins co would pay for .I don't need referals now with this new one . But they may not cover things such as PET scans and such . I am telling you ..you cant win and when you and sick and down and out .this is when they wanna SOCK IT TO YOU !! Right now I am OK and cancer Free ....( Well I am having other health issues ) BUT I want to know all I can and be as Prepared as I can , atleast where the Ins is concerened !

This Insurance is called UPMC of of Pittsburgh Pa. It's out of the University of Pittsburgh Hospital, which is top rated. The top rate means nothing if they don't cover this existing condition. I haven't heard back from them as of now, but hope to the 1st of the week.

I am soo sorry ..and I hope the BEST for you . I really dont understand the politics behind this all . I try to but I don't , I dont know how a person can sit behind a desk and say well we arent going to cover someone who pays their premium and give them the coverage for the treatment they need !

Jim - Persistance often pays off so you have to keep on them and call them if you don't hear from them. You could also try the "broken record method" and no matter what they say, just be nice and keep repeating and repeating what you want. My daughter and I (while we were in college together) learned about this in some psychology classes that we both took and it has worked many times for us!
