Hi Friends,

I don't know if I should say anything about my radiation treatment because after 19 treatments I haven't had any bad side effects yet! I only have 11 treatments left. I am having IMRT so I think that makes a difference. I had a minor sore throat last week but this week I hardly notice it. Makes me wonder if their doing it right. I was expecting all the bad things I read about for the last three months. I have gained back all the weight I lost after the surgery almost 30 lbs. I started out around 150 got down to 121 after the surgery and am back to 148 now. I am inputting 8 to 10 cans of jevity with carnation instant milk mixed in along with weight gainer fron GNC. I also input Gatorade & water four times per day which equal 1000cc. The only negative thing is I'm not yet eating anything through my mouth. I thought I will start eating after the radiation is finished. I am keeping my fingers crossed that all continues to go well. Your friend Dan

Dan,

Sounds great! I, like you, held up well during radiation and wondered if it was working. I'm just curious, have you been told to avoid oral intake until radiation ends or does it cause pain? I know there are mixed opinions on this issue but I always felt that I got back to "normal" eating fast because I ate through the entire process. This would be my non-clinically supported atrophy theory. It is an eat if you can concept. Can you?

Glenn

Hey Dan,
So glad to hear that all is going well. I have wondered how you are doing. Sounds like it's all under good control and I will continue to pray for you and your family. Dan is also doing well, will have a biopsy done hopefully next week to check out a "spot" on his tongue further back in the gag reflex. He is feeling well and back to work. Praise God!
Take care!
Deb
