We got the results today, a previous "spot" on his lung was there but didn't flash, this time it said " Small less than 1cm nodular foci identified in BOTH lungs There is associated mild to moderate hypermetobolic assosiated with these findings, these appear increased in size since 8/8/07. Hypermetobolic activity associated with these findings is new since the prior study. Findings suggest progression of hypermetobolic pulmonary metastic disease since prior exam"
His ENT basicly shooed us out the door and said the cancer center will discuss this with us (appt tues).
We are devastated. We expected some positive news and got delt a huge blow. The river of tears has started again and not stopped since we got out of the Dr.s office.
What happens now? What to expect? Thanks so much. Sam and Richard

Why not????? Whatever the news, who knows what to expect? And does worrying make any difference?? I had a serious 'dose of the runs' today waiting for my appointment--I'm still an 'incurable' patient, but after all the bad news of the last 6 months, today's seems like good! Actually it's NOT! But tonight, feeling lousy from flu bug thingy, sitting amongst chaos where we're trying to de-clutter and re-decorate revolving round work and my appointments, I made time to just crawl onto partner's knee and tell him I love him and appreciate all he's done for me. Tonight, the house may be struck by lightning, Ray may have a crash on the way to work, either of us could die from a heart attack--we're that kind of age. And in my local paper, a 6 yr. old has died in 72 hours from Meningitis. Just go have a nice weekend---it will NOT make any difference to Tuesday's outcome. And my heart goes out to you--am thinking of you for Tuesday.

We were told Oct 9th that Richard is Terminal and that he should start chemo again 3 days on 3 weeks off. He has completed his first treatment but ended up in the hospital due to low blood counts fever etc.He is still there now. I also had to tell our youngest (11 years old) that she could lose her daddy. That was the hardest thing I ever had to do. Richard is fighting though with every ounce his has left. He is one brave man.

I know you are just stunned and wondering how, after all you have gone thru, that this thing has again taken over. I am so sorry and that is all I can offer you, other than a little prayer for your family right now. Please know that the OCF crew is here to give you and Richard strength in this new journey...Deb

To my utter surprise and disbelief, the chemo appears to have 'bought me some more time'---my doc says he won't give figures/numbers as he's invariably wrong, and I just take each day as it comes and celebrate it! Please let us know how Richard is doing.

The Chemo made him very ill and hubby does not want to spend what time he has left in hospital with Chemo Side effects and not being able to hold any nutrition down. We are hoping though it wont be as bad next session. I have also asked him if he wants to go "home" (UK) but he wants to stay here says he prefers palm tree's to rain anyday! Its a blessing we have time to make plans, many people don't get that. Take care for now

DH has not been able to tolerate any sort of chemo, his bloods kept crashing to near fatal on 2 occasions, so his doc tried different things same results, he was in hospital so much he joked about changing his address to theirs. He is now on Erbitux (sp?) that seems to be okay, just vomiting day after treatment, but it passes, will have another pet in 4 weeks time to see what the progression is (hoping none!) Take care of yourselves Sammie + a sleeping Rich!
