My mother recently had a surgery to remove her oral cancer and they replaced it with a skin graft from her side. Its 3 weeks out and she says the skin is choking her and thick and gross... will it ever get better? And people that have had this surgery before how successful was it?

I have a graft also. The radiation treatment shrunk it somewhat, but it is still bulky to me 6 weeks post-radiation.

The Dr. told me it should shrink some more as the radiation will continue to work for months. He said they made it bulky so when it did shrink it would not tighten too much or fail.

Tell your Mom to give it time, it is a long process.
