So I went to the dentist the other day and I think that I found a patch of white marks behind my molars. I’m planing to get this checked out to see if it’s cancer but I don’t have anyone to talk to until then and was hoping I could get some answers. I was wondering if these white spots on my gum/roof of my mouth means I’ve got cancer or is it possibly something else? I don’t think it’s been there for too long but I need some answers to put my mind at ease

Welcome to the forum.

At this point, the white patch could be anything. Only a biopsy will be able to tell you if it is cancerous or not. Did you dentist notice the patch? One of OCF’s endeavour is to promote regularly screening for oral cancer by hygienists. If I were you, I would certainly go back to the dentist and discuss the concerns and then take it from there.

Dwr4,

You are wise to have your white patches checked out further, as soon as possible. It very well may be nothing serious but if it is, better to deal with it now!

Please let us know the outcome of your next visit. We are all rooting for you!
