Hey Ranger,

Welcome to the club no one really wants to belong to. The battle is about to begin and I won't sugar coat it...it's brutal. Hang tough and keep on putting one foot in front of the other. It'll be over before you know it.

Positive thoughts and prayers

Welcome, Ranger, sorry to hear about your situation! And you are right, this too shall pass! We share something besides the cancer, other than which I am the healthiest person I know. I haven't had so much as the sniffles in several decades.

I do have chronic sinusitis because 1) I'm allergic to cats, and have lived with one or two for the past 34 years; and 2) I'm allergic to Oak pollen, and have lived surrounded by Oaks for longer than that. But other than remembering to take something to blow my nose on, it has no impact on my life.

Be anal about getting 2500 cal/day inside yourself, along with at least 64 oz of water. Most here recommend a min of 48 oz, but 64 is better. Constipation is a major problem with most chemo varieties (although for some, the problem is exactly opposite - go figure...) and water is essential both for lubricating the intestines and for metabolizing and excreting the chemo.

If/when you begin to feel anxiety or fear, examine what you can do, and do everything you can think of. At that point, realize that all you can do is all you can do. When you've done it, let it go, direct your attention elsewhere and do not let your mind dwell on the fear.

Good luck, Ranger!

Welcome to OCF, Ranger!

Please take a few minutes to review the private message )PM) I have sent. Look towards the top center of the page on the menu bar next to where it says "My Stuff". You should see a small flashing envelope. Click on it and you will be taken to your messages. The info includes detailed instructions on how to make a signature and tips for navigating the forum.

Thank you!

No question about, chemo days are long, hard, and boring. Plus you get to wheel the bag stand down the hall to the IMRT room. The effects from chemo last a few days to a week. I thought wed night and thurs morning were the toughest point. Stay current on you pills. Chemo fog might, and probably will set in. Good luck.
