Glad you have found OCF to give you some guidance thru treatments. As others have mentioned, your attitude will be helpful in getting thru this. Best of luck with treatments.
Tony, you do not have an expiration date stamped on the bottom of your foot. (a commercial here is the US) Please start your own post so both you and the original poster have the full benefit of getting the advice and attention of other OCF members. We're at Wilmont Cancer center affiliated with the University of Rochester (NY). They gave Glenn a big team of practitioners who've been meeting with us weekly and talking on the phone whenever we need more questions answered. I don't think I could ask for more.
There was some question about adding Chemo to the Radiation. The tumor board was initially on the fence. Ultimately, I have not seen anyone with Glenn's diagnosis who did NOT use Chemo as adjunct therapy so I and his Drs. gently talked him into it. He chose Carbo/Taxol instead of Cicplatin, unwilling to risk the neurotoxcicity. We did talk them into eliminating the Aerodigestive tract from direct radiation. He'll have bilateral neck radiation. Everyone in agreement now so on we go.
Glenn is not dwelling on his upcoming treatment. He's just not nervous. He tells me this is not too high a price to pay for a possible cure. He is extremely good at living in the now. Doesn't worry about things he can't control. I am in awe of his strenght and will simply imitate his attitude until the fear comes under control.
All the nerves right now are on my end. I have good support as I have worked in a hospital for 25yrs. My friends are all nurses and nurse practitioners, some having experienced various types of cancer treatment for themselves or loved ones. They're helping me a lot.
Thanks again for all the replys. I'll keep you up to date.
