I get a TSH test every 6 months and it's always been within normal limits. Anyone with head & neck radiation should have had a baseline TSH, pre Tx, and a post Tx TSH bloodtest every 6 months.
Teresa, just to give you a heads up, the side effects symptoms will continue to get worse after "beam off", 2-4 weeks anyway. Some of us even develop some fear that we are no longer proactive in killing the cancer. Other post Tx issues are more thrush, "opportunistic" infections, and depression is very common also. The immune stsyem is virtually crashed so be very careful to avoid sick people, especially children. Wash your hands often.
It's been said many times here that it takes 1 month of recovery for each week of radiation and that early recovery can be measured in three week increments, it is so slow a process. It will pass.
