It's been a VERY LONG DAY! Jim had his scan and the Dr. came to see us and then escorted us into a "new" room - the review board room. He said, that I want to show you the scan that we did today and then the scan we did (3) months ago. Of course, I'm feeling faint by now and bracing myself for the worst...When we walked into the room, Jim's whole body was slowly spinning on the screen in front of us. He said these are the scans from (3) months ago. The black spots where the vital organs are should be that way - the brain, the kidneys, the bladder, the heart, etc. These other black spots are not so good - notice the shoulder blades, the sternum, the right and left femur, up and down the spine, these are cancer sites.
Then he flipped to another screen and said, these are the scans from today. He said the black spots that you are seeing are where the sugars in the body go to - so he pointed to Jim's head and it was normal, pointed to his bladder, it was normal, pointed to his heart, normal, to his chest, no black spots, no black pots on his shoulder blades, no black spots up and down his spine, no black spots on either femur. One suspicious something on a rib (it wasn't black and he couldn't confirm it was or was not cancer), lungs are normal, pointed to his chest area and it is normal....he said, there isn't any cancer showing at this time - the Taxotere seems to be working!!!! So, he said I'll call the oncologist make the recommendation and I'll see you in (3) months for another scan. He was thrilled - he said that he had never seen anything like this, that this was highly unusual, but that perhaps Taxotere was putting it in remission!
I am extremely thrilled and ready to have a party!!! I just wish I knew why Jim continues to be in pain, but forgot to even ask the Dr. because I was sooooo excited about the news! Maybe someone has an idea of why he is still hurting so much.
Thanks to all of you for all of your prayers - they are working!!!
Hugs to everyone,
Paula
