Great news! This sounds like a dilatation which is sensitive to the root cause of the blockage - tissue damage due to radiation. This could help those who have a stricture or tightness at the top of their esophagus, unfortunately though, it doesn't look like it would be beneficial for those whose swallowing problem is related to imprecise movements of the mouth and muscles of swallowing which result in coughing, choking and aspiration.
