Joined: Apr 2017 Posts: 25 | I had my surgery on 5/9/17
Day 1: 5/9/17 Partial glossectomy, Tumor in mouth and neck.
Day 2: ICU walked around unit one time - Room at 80 degrees to improve perfusion of capillaries on the flap. The cold wash clothes on my forehead helped me endure the heat. No Trach, flap harvest site is pretty horrific, neck is itchy and hot
Day 3: transferred to PCU
Discharged home yesterday!
So much to share but feeling tuckered out.
SCC 4a Biopsy- under tongue 4/7/17 results Squamous Cell Carcinoma. Surgery scheduled 5/9/17. Tumor Boarf reviewing case next Wednesday 5/3/17 Appt surgery/reconstruction/involvement TBD a affected area-base of tongue on the entire right side floor of mouth from base of tongue to wall of mandible, lymph nodes in neck involved. Proceeding w/PET, surgery/ reconstruction TBD, trach, port, radiation, chemo, feeding tube. Learning from you everyday. DeboraLee

Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 10,507 Likes: 6 | Hi Tink! Glad to see you're back  Sounds like you have been thru ALOT!!!! Take your time trying to return to your former routines. Right now your body is burning up calories trying to rebuild itself so you probably will need higher calories to help you recover. Rest, watch your daily calories and water intake. Theres no place like home
