If there is a post concerning this matter please direct me there.

One of radiation therapisthave only seen her once) has told me to not drink/eat anything extremely hot or cold, as well as, spicy foods(I south TX) becuase this would effect my rads by either speeding them up or slowing them down. I.e. Hot speeding up the effects/cold slowing down the process. Has anyone heard of this?
I realize I am just in the first week or so of tx. I am waiting for the side effects to appear. I am somewhat prepared for what is to come by reading many of the posts here from the wise folks that frequently post on this forum. I have lots of aloe, and some cream called Miaderm. Mouthwash, I like Biotene.

So, I just want to hear what others may know about the validity of hot and cold drinks or spicy foods effecting radiation.

Hey Kenny

This may be a suggestion to avoid any further tissue damage. I know that I could not handle any temperature extremes at about the 3rd week and it was a while before I could, even Ice cream was a challenge for about 6 months post rads.

Now I used to go thru Tabasco like ketchup, no more, but my tolerance for spicy foods is coming back VERY slowly. My doctor warned me to not get to carried away with the spicy stuff.... yeah I miss it, but I just can't handle it.

I'm interested to see if anyone else has any insight on this affecting the actual radiation effectiveness.

Kevin

After the first few weeks all I could tolerate was room temp liquids but I was never given that advice.

I couldn't tell spicy from sweet for a long time . The last sauce I made I put some of every thing hot in. LOL It burned big time but felt good to have the burn for a change. I even put hot pepper juice in spaghetti sauce but that just sort of sweetens it some.
