Just to let everyone know that I have completed three weeks of Rd. I started to get nausea this week and the doctors aren't sure if it is from the Ethyol shots or the pain meds. The doctor stopped the Ethyol shots for a few days to see if I still get nausea, if I do it must be the pain med, if I don't then it must be the Ethyol.
Eating has changed for me. I am eating soft foods. I find that dairy makes my mouth thick with mucus, so I am trying to stay away from that. Feel a little more tired then last week, but still working.
Thanks to all on this cite who contribute and share their lives for us all to see.
I wisk everyone a great Memorial Day weekend and to all the vets and families, THANKS!

WFC,

You are probably about to enter that dark tunnel we talk about so it's doubly important now and until around the 3rd week post Tx to cram in all the calories and water you can.

I too suffered from pain med nausea and towards the end I had to make the decision to stop all the pain meds just so I could drink my calories.

Martin felt nauseaus when he went through radiotherapy, but i think a lot was to do with the Movicol he was taking to counteract the side effects of the Oxynorm (constipation). Now he gets fig syrup or prune syrup and it works enough for him to cope. his nausea went as soon as he stopped the movicol.
are you taking anything like that?
Good luck and stay strong.

Hi wfc-
I was nauseauous from the extra mucous actually. That and I think maybe some of the blood from the mouth sores. Keep as hydrated as possible nad don't be afraid to ask your doctors to be hydrated interveineously. This helped me a lot with the nausea getting hydration seems to ease the nausea-- also Ativan is good for nausea and just relaxes you too and helps you sleep.

Take good care of yourself.
