Big changes from last week. Tongue very swollen and raw, difficult to drink water, much less instant breakfast. MD gave me a RX for liquid Lido/Benadryl and liquid pain med of Loritab. I am hesitant to take the Loritab except at night.
I could be mistaken but part of the tongue problems could be from chewing on my tongue at night since it is so swollen. Has any one experienced that or used a mouth guard at night?

I didn't have the tongue problems you're describing Irish but other side effects sure are par for the course. Hang in there.

Bill . . . SCC - originated in right tonsil, drifted into neck ( 28 lymph nodes removed - one positive ). Radical neck dissection in September 07, completed 34 radiation tx on January 4, 2008. Used Peg. Non smoker, 61, good shape, no previous health issues. Second year PET scan - "all clear".

It seems that Chemo day is the best day. I am sure it is the steroids and anti nausea. I founf that the Compazine doesn't do didly, switched to Lorzapan. I did start taking my Loritabs. Weight is down about 5 lbs from last week. Learning only taste I have is salt, everything else seems to taste like pepper.
zzzzzzzzzthe Onco/Rad said all blood work is good, can feel lymph noded have returned to normal. However my tongue is another story. I feel that it is twice the size it used to be. Went to riteaid to get plastic mouth piece to keep from biting my tongur at night.
