I scheduled an appointment for tomorrow, but I'm wondering if I should be worried. I just can't figure out what this could be. It's sort of a lump thing way on the back of my tongue. You almost can't see it it's so for back. But it feels like there's something stuck in my throat. I thought it was my tonsil for a while, but I realized that it's actually this bump. I have had weird sores appear around the bump. they look like giant pimples with white heads on them. Never seen anything in my mouth like this. The sores are not ulcers, as I get those fairly often and know what that's like. These are raised bumps. One was the size of a small pea or a little larger than a BB with a big white head on top (like a bump on the bump). Then that one disappeared and now I have a white bump on the other side, but I couldn't get a picture of it because of its location. But it looks like a skin tag except it's all white and very painful. The tissue around the area generally looks... irregular and weird, but the moving around of the sores is very odd. Anyway, looking about online, I can't find anything like it anywhere. It's all fairly localized, at the very back/side of the right side of my tongue. The main bump (the one that feels like something is in my throat) is kind of hard/firm, and tender to touch.

Any insight would be most helpful. Again, I'm going to the doctor tomorrow for sure.

Here are two pictures of the big bump.

I thought I should add that I'm 28, never smoked, rarely drink (like one drink per year), and that I've had this thing for two weeks. I also recovered from a bacterial infection in my eyes, sinuses, and throat, about a month ago. Had great health for two weeks, then this. I have no "sick" symptoms, just the bump/sores.

Definitely get it checked out, but for what it's worth, that looks nothing like the cancerous lesions I've had removed from near that same location on my tongue.

NO ONE can visually Dx OC so it's always a safe bet to get it checked out sooner than later and it pays to be persistent to get a correct Dx.

Welcome to OCF. Any sore in your mouth that has been there at least 2 weeks without healing should be checked by a professional. A biopsy is the only way to tell for sure if its concerous. One thing that should ease your mind is that for some reason most cancerous sores are not painful. Mine didnt hurt at all and I had it in 2 places and then a recurrance, not one of those hurt. Hope it turns out to be nothing. best of luck tomorrow.

Good luck to you. I'm happy to hear that you are going to the doctor tomorrow. I have so many pictures of my tongue just like yours. Isn't it fun to pose for them?..lol

Thanks again guys. Visited the doctor today, and she said it looked "concerning". She thought a dentist would have a more qualified opinion for me, and told me to make an appointment right away. Also took a culture and some blood work to check for underlying viruses or health issues. I'll get the blood results tomorrow, and the culture will take longer of course.

She prescribed lidocaine for pain and antibiotics in case it's bacterial. Normally I'm reluctant to take antibiotics, but under the circumstances I think I will. If it starts to clear up at least it will ease my mind while I wait to see the dentist.

Making the appointment first thing tomorrow (it was too late today, 7:30 pm by the time I got home from the appointment).
