It's our lives at stake here. To cheer you up, it could be worse with your doctor with whom you could CLASH instead of just not CLICK . I was surprisingly amenable to my doctors suggested treatment plans the first time around. Now that it did not work, I am argumentative and basically cross examining them. part of the reluctance may come from the fact that the therapy also takes its toll.
Radiation and chemo both have long term problems by themselves. They are very toxic they just happen to be a tad more toxic for cancer cells; the damage they cause may result in cancers of their own later on. If you get too aggressive, you may get acute problems and/or increase the chance of treatment related malignacies. So it is a delicate balance and it is a statistical proposition (both getting cancer and treating it), no 2 people are the same.
With respect to carbo vs cisplatin issue, they are thought to work similarly (alkylating/cross linking your DNA). From what I understand carboplatin is much less quickly excreted and they will give you a much higher dose. The one thing that may be relevant in your case is that carbo is not nephrotoxic in contrast to cisplatin which is. They may be concerned with damaging your kidneys.

Actually Markus makes a lot of sense.
I will get a re-staging PET sometime next week, so I'll have more of a feel for where we're going. I believe Markus is right. As my doctor can no longer feel my tumer, being too aggessive too soon create more problems later.

Thank you for the compliment, please consider that this is just my opinion.... I am not an oncologist nor MD for that matter and no one can be diagnosed over the net. This forum provides a great platform for ideas/experiences that you can take and discuss with your team.
My young MO also was initially proposing to continue with additional chemo after the radiation/concurrent chemo, and while I did want to get rid of the beast once and for all, there was no clear benefit/indication and some additional risks. This was discussed with the MO and in the end I did not go for it. Apparently, the fact that I was still "moving" after the treatment made him think.... hmm he can take some more!

Now the sage thing... makes me feel old, like Dumbledore ..... (watch out David I just might turn you into a frog!)
