When I had mine out I was told there were no restrictions. For a couple of days it kind of felt like a slightly pulled muscle but it really wasn't bad at all and I hardly noticed it. Having it pulled took like 2 seconds and didn't hurt at all. The hole had closed up by the next morning and now I'm just waiting for it to warm up a little bit so I can go swimming!

Stephanie, 23, SCC on the right side of my tongue, surgery on 5-19-08, over half my tongue removed, free flap constructed from my forearm, bilateral neck dissection, one positive node. Radiation (32) and chemo (carboplatin) started on 6-16-08. Recurrence 4/09 in lungs.

**** Stephanie passed away 12.15.09.... RIP our dear friend****

I had to have mine changed once and they did it by hand and it didnt hurt whatsoever. Then when they went to take it out for good they had a contraption that they hooked to it to tell them how much force it was taking to take it out. That hurt like crazy. So, with that said, make them pull it out by hand... LOL

Dx Mar 07 with Base Of Tongue Stage IV. IMRT 35x with 3 doses Cysplatin ran concurrent. Tx ended May 31,07. Left and right node involved. Radical neck disection 7/18/07

Depends on the PEG, some have a sort of balloon anchor and some are long and have twists, but slide right out (I have taken my unanchored one out to clean blockages three times now and replaced it, but won't do it again because I had a lot of difficulty getting it right the last time!).
