Jun 07, back to riding my bike 100 miles a wk. Now doing 12 Spin classes and 60 outdoor miles per wk. Nov 13 completed Hilly Century ride for Cancer, 104 miles, 1st Place in my age group. Apr 2014 & 15, Spun for 9 straight hrs to raise $$ for YMCA's Livestrong Program. Certified Spin Instructor Jun 2014.

The offer came in the mail, but I didn't want to poke the c-bear...plus I didn't want him to feel bad if we were turned down.
I'm interested to what anyone with insurance experience can find out and let us all know.

Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 1,128 | Be careful about generalizations on insurance -- Each state has its own Ins Commission and the laws may differ, plus the InsCo's themselves have some latitude in how they write policies.

I just got off the phone with my insurance company. The agent is coming out on Thursday to update my policy. From our conversation, my policy which is a mortgage life insurance policy that Ive had for 10 years will actually go down. It will go down due to the fact that Im now a non smoker. I did tell them Ive had cancer and he said it doesnt matter, its changing an existing policy so it doesnt have any medical questions. Once the insurance man comes out, I will know more and I will ask about anybody getting a brand new policy who has had cancer. Im sure every state and company are different, but this might be helpful.

I will be very interested in what you hear. Make sure
you ask about someone who already has a mortgage as opposed
to someone who is buying a new home.

Had 14 hour operation which included reconstruction of jaw.
Reconstruction failed. Some radiation, no chemo.

That agent is going to be sorry that he called me by the time Im done asking him questions. Poor guy. Im very picky and will want to see it in writing, not just what the guy tells me. I will try to get some info to share here and find out if every state has different rules.

Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 5,260 | I was licensed in the Sate of Ohio as an Ins agent. You just couldn't stop a policy of any becauses. The laws that regulate them are basically still intact.
Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April.

Joined: Nov 2002 Posts: 3,552 | I couldn't even get insurance to pay off my credit cards. I understand that some companies will offer life insurance after 7 years cancer free. Read the small print. Oftentimes they can exclude you because of pre-existing conditions even if they didn't ask any medical questions.

and such? I am even not going to tell my work that I am having
a small procedure done to remove a basel cell carcinoma from
my leg (like Laura Bush) only mine is not as bad as hers. Hers was
squamas cell. They will all think I am going to die again and
give me "the look". It is not even related to my jaw cancer that
was removed and now I say I am cancer free for the moment. If I tell my work, I am afraid they will figure out a way to get rid of
me that I cannot prove.
Must we go around feeling we have to hide stuff? I did not even
think about credit card insurance!! THey usually want to stuff
that down your throat!

Joined: Jun 2007 Posts: 5,260 | I just got another Ins offer that states it doesn't matter about illness or injury. But like most they have a 2 year full enforcement provision. They will give back your payments plus interest but after 2 years, the full policy is in affect. I really hope I didn't trash the Ins offer I got before this one. It was the best offer I have had. I have enough to make my ex smile when I die, LOL
