I have been gone for awhile. So much going on in my personal life, I have not had time to check in. I hope everyone is doing well, and still fighting! smile

An update on us... Dad is doing pretty good. Waiting on results of latest scan. Still not back at work, still has PEG, still having trouble swallowing, still having phlegm issues, and still really thin. Only just now starting to nibble on some food. Not sure if it was lack of ability or stubbornness... haha. (For those of you who remember Dad's personality! wink ) He is enjoying the smells of food again and is making all kinds of food for Mom! HAHA. She is complaining that she is gaining the weight he is losing! crazy

Anyway, just wanted to check in. smile

*A special hello and thank you to Jim, Dell, Deb, David (and countless others) for helping me get through this....

Of course you're remembered. Tell your dad that the recovery is soooo slow that it's worst than the treatment sometimes. At least with the treatment you can mark it on your calendar and start your countdown. I really didn't notice much in the way of improvements until my 4th month post Tx and my last recognized improvements came when I was 16 months post Tx so tell him to hang in there as it will get better.

Hi David! Thanks for the response. I will be sure to tell him you said that. He always enjoys hearing it straight from the horses mouth! smile I think it certainly helps to know he is not alone in his journey, and that what he is experiencing both physically and mentally is "typical." Let's see, I think it was February when he completed all of his treatments, so that makes the timeline you mentioned about right.

How is everything going with you?

Thank you chilled_fire. It is a tough one watching you Dad suffer, isn't it? This board has been so very helpful to me, as I am sure it has been to you as well. As of now, yes, he is Cancer free. They believe the treatments have gotten the tumor taken care of. His previous scan showed a "shadow" of some sort, so this last one is to try and determine if it is suspected scar tissue, or something else. We are still waiting on the results. Obviously, we are hoping for good news. I will try and keep the board updated. Have a great day, and I will keep you and your Dad in my thoughts. smile

Larry's Daughter:

Its been a while since you posted, you are not forgotten. Im glad to hear your dad is coming along and is cancer free. Im hoping the 'shadow' turns out to be nothing. It takes a while after treatment ends to begin to eat.

A couple things your dad might enjoy with just starting to eat. Maybe try yogurt, pudding or chocolate milk is soothing to the throat and mouth.

Keep us posted on your dad's recovery.

Christine
