Welcome to OCF. Im sorry you have had to go thru so much. There are so many wonderful caring people on here who will be able to help answer any questions you have.

I have a port too. Mine was put in July 29, 2007. It has made chemo and having bloodwork done so much easier. Its also very handy for if you get dehydrated and need IV fluids, it goes thru the port.

Please make it easier for people to help you by adding a brief description of what you have explained in your post to your signature. That can be done by clicking on My stuff and updating your profile. I wish you the best of luck with your continued battle.

Hi Joette,

Welcome to our group. Not a club you wanted to join I'm sure but there's a lot of people here who will have experiences to share that will make it an easier or at least more informed journey for you. And then there's the rest of us who will listen and root you on.

Joette- What kind of chemo will you be having? My husband has metastasis to his chest and he is on Taxotere to try and slow it down.

Joette, you sure came to the right place. There are caring people here that are knowledgeable about cancer. Ask anything you want and I'm sure you will receive quite a few answers. I hate to say it , but welcome to the club.

Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April.

I am curious if during your original work up in 07 they did a full body scan, either PET or CT. We all wish you the best journey through this.
