Minnie, you and Hersons mother are so young. If it were possible and I had a year left and could decide what to do with it,, I would give each of you 6 months of my time. This makes all of us sad when we hear such young people being so sick. I can offer my prayers and some of my stubbornness for you to use.

Since posting this. UPMC, Pittsburgh, Oct 2011 until Jan. I averaged about 2 to 3 surgeries a week there. w Can't have jaw made as bone is deteroriating steaily that is left in jaw. Mersa is to blame. Feeding tube . Had trach for 4mos. Got it out April.
--- Passed away 5/14/14, will be greatly missed by everyone here

One thing I have learned a little late. Get a second opinion just as soon as you can from a cancer center. That would be
the first thing I would do no matter what. Minnie did and it certainly helped her. Please use your energy for that if at all possible.
Debbie

Partial mandibulectomy and neck dissection 2/3/07. T2NOMO.
Had 14 hour operation which included reconstruction of jaw.
Reconstruction failed. Some radiation, no chemo.

Jim, that is the kindest thing anyone has ever said to me on this board. I remember when I was first diagnosed, I was 41, and my doctor told me that he usually doesn't see this type of cancer until a patient is in their 70's at least. I find myself thinking that I dont mind so much that I have the cancer, ust wish it could have waited another 25 years!! But then I remember that I'm much luckier than many that used to be a part of this board. First to my memory is Heather and Marcy, 28 and 32 respectively and both with a young daughter left behind.

Again, thanks Jim, it was really nice of you to say that.
Love,
Minnie

Herson, just remember that your mother will always be with you, even after this has run its course. I'm so fortunate, my mother AND my grandmother are still alive, healthy and going strong. My Great Grandmother just died 6 years ago, she was healthy until the day she died from old age. Healthiest family you could imagine..............and here I am dealing with such serious health issues! Anyone with their mother still alive and healthy, hug them, call them, do whatever needed to let them know how lucky you are that they are still here with them.
