I'm exactly 6 weeks post rad, nearly 5 months post surgery. Had my first check-up today, they told me everything was perfect. They don't even have any plans for a CT or PET in the near future.

I had a long talk with the surgeon who removed the tumor, and he said that despite being a stage IV tumor, it was very well differentiated, no nodal involvment at all, and no spread, anywhere. He was very confident that I am free of the demon, at least at this point.

I'm pleased of course....I also have the same worries that many have expressed on this forum..what if it comes back?

I have to get my head around that and get on with the healing

That's great news for the first checkup!!!! They told me everything looked good also on my first one. So I took it for what it was, "great news". Yes, we all have to live with the monster of the question you stated. But I try not to think of that. Think of the positive and enjoy the life that we have at this moment. We could waist so much precious life, thinking and dwelling on the other. I have my first pet scan at the end of this month, so I hope I can keep up this attitude... smile

Good advice coming from linroth.
Mike and I just had this conversation today. What if?
We decided that since cancer is part of our life now, that everytime we start thinking the big "what if?" that we would turn our thought on this to having the best possible today and think of all the good things that make you happy.
Mike's spin on this talk today is:
"One day at a time" Don't worry be happy"
