Hi,
I've just posted an abstract of a study in the OCF News section on testing for Candida (thrush - a fungal infection). See
http://www.oralcancerfoundation.org/news/story.asp?newsId=1454
for details.

One result from the study was that "dental plaque was found to have the highest density of Candida colonization, and was thus found to be the most significant source of Candida infection, which emphasizes the role of dental care in these patients."

While it is very tempting to avoid oral hygene when recovering from radiation treatments, particularly immediately after they have ceased and the oral cavity is so painful, apparently, it could be well worth the effort to be very attentive.

Those of us who have had to deal with thrush know that it is not a pleasant experience. - Sheldon
