Hi!

I was just sitting here thinking of my small steps in trying to eat. Thought I would share with all. Remember chew Well before swallowing & small bits.

I try to eat something once a day. I am still recovering. This is what I have so far. I was tired of cold things, Ice cream, jell-o, Ice pops ect.

Oat meal with MILK (cooked on stove)Microwave dry it out. Cream of wheat.

Toast with butter & sugarless jam dipped in Hot chocolate. (this is great for that treat for chocolate) Also try graham crackers

Scrameld egg with milk. (milk gives moisture & softer)

Fish & chips (frozen fish had soft meat did not eat the breading)

Fried Chicken Thigh then baked in oven for 30 min. Was moist, did not eat skin.

Macaroni & cheese (take time eating this one, can be tricky)

Tuna fish with lots of Mayo on a cracker( I used Ritz) small bits.

Cooked mixed Veg. I had this & was great with lots of butter. Cooked califlower too.

I only eat a small amount but it is a begining. It makes you feel like your eating something. I am still on my PEG tube. If I come up with anything else I will post. smile

Does anyone else have any foods they have had?

Hi DM,

Pudding is great as is creme brulee (sp) or any custard. Put a banana on your oatmeal. I use whole rolled oats, two parts water to one part oatmeal, microwave for 3 to 4 minutes. Doesn't seem dry to me. I put honey and a banana on mine with a little cold milk. I am no able to tolerate cinnamin also.

Fettucine alfredo went down fine, even with small pieces of chicken. Chocolate malts and shakes.

Any pasta dish that is not two spicey. Lasagna, with meat sauce etc.

Good luck,

Steve Daib

Thanks Steve for all the info.
I am staying away from tomatoes for now.
For some reason I am really doing well this week with swallowing. Not in the morning. My mouth & throat seem to be swollen.

I have been able to eat a little bit better. Mind you I only have a little and one meal by mouth. I still use my peg. It does bother my mouth & tounge a little.. but I put that gel stuff in my mouth to help. I think that stinging feeling is getting better as well.

My goal is to be off my peg tube in another month. Don't get me wrong I have become very attached to my peg. It is so easy for me to keep it. That is why I must try and eat on my own soon.

I even had a mixed drink this week (very weak of course) We were celebrating some good news. I was surprised I could drink it! I only had the one. I really do not think I am ready for that right now.

Ok, bye for now....... DM

Well, I have decided to start eating 2 meals a day. I think my mouth & Throat can take it. I am going to start with Breakfast & lunch. Those I think are the easiest.

I think my throat can take it now, since I was able to eat some thing once a day for a while. It helped the musceles develope.

I will have my can stuff for dinner, which will give me my extra inriched nourishment.
