My dad had 8 healty molars pulled before all his tx. Now, 3 mos out he is noicing a white spot/divit on the side where the tumor was on his tonisil-NOT on the tonsil, but on his gum where his tooth was. Obviously, he is going in but we are curious if anyone has shared this experience? There are no sharp protrusions or anything? I have a sneaking suspicion that it is his gum receding-God forbid it's a little cancer spot--there's always that worry you know! Hugs to you all-let me know what you think.

If the spot has been there for a couple of weeks and isn't going away, he's wise to have it checked out. It could be one of many things. I had a white spot on my gum last year that didn't respond to medication, and my oral surgeon finally took it out and biopsied it. It turned out to be a benign neuroma (which he said could be caused by irritation of some sort), and thankfully it hasn't come back.

Very interesting. I still have a white spot on my tongue.
I had cancer in my tonsil, a radical neck discection and 33 rad treatments.
The white spot showed up a few days after I had braces put on to correct my teeth. They weren't quite put back right after my surgery. My tongue hurt very badly. My oncolgist suggested I go back and have my braces filed down because they seemed to be irritating my tongue. I did. My tongue felt better in a day or two.
The white spot didn't go away. Eventually, I had it biopsied and it was benign.
It's still there. A bit smaller but we are keeping an eye on it.
