Hello again, it has been 1 year today since my mother was diagnosed with stage 4 oral cancer (tongue/lymph nodes). The doctors would not do surgery due to her age (then 72) , she refused chemo and radiation and she has been using an alternative approach for the past year (diet, herbs, ion cleanse, massage, accupuncture, vibe), she has felt wonderful and has a great year, she has been on 3 vacations , enjoyed her 73 Birthday, many Holidays and
(hopefully) soon my daughters graduation from High school. Anyway, since Easter she has had severe ear pain and chewing pain, I suggested she return to the Dr. and the lymph glands are swelling and putting pressure on her nerve. The Dr. has set up hospice and suggested not doing any feeding tube.
What about a nerve block to this area so she could
still be functional but not have pain to that one area?? I realize that there would prolly be some paralysis to that area but does this not sound to be a logical procedure?? I am no Doctor just a daughter not ready to lose her mom to this nasty crap.

One of our local anaesthesiologists has gone into pain management, and I would surely call such a person and get an opinion. It seems that anything that would improve a terminal patient's comfort level and ability to function would be a great thing.
