The doc says they don't have much facts on how long it may stay low especially after IMRT which has stronger doses that are absorbed in the bone. Has any one had low white counts, did you have IMRT and how long did it last until the white count went to normal?

I had low red cell counts also - makes me wonder what was floating around in there! 1 1/2 years later it's still low. Doc says it may never go back to "normal". At least the red cell counts normal again...

Like Gary, the red cell count was also low. The low reading of both lasted about 2 years and after that it is climbing gradually. Both started to hit the normal range and remain stable up to now. Maybe the effect of IMRT is more serious, I guess.

However, since treatment he has only had one cold, nothing else. Remarkable considering we have three kids at home that always pick up something at school. Think his new low count is just his new normal.
