This is freaking ridiculus. I'm losing hearing in my left ear. It even aches a little bit. No body has biopsied or scanned me. I don't feel comfortable with this. I don't think that I have SCC. I think I've got another form in a minor salivary gland. Yesterday my nose bled twice from that left side as well. What a freaking roller coaster ride. Does anyone have any suggestions other than begging for a biopsy?

Sounds like you need either a biopsy or a scan. The scan would be the most informative at this point...expensive, but with your symptoms, there is something going on. It might be totally benign, or it might be something behind the scenes that isn't so harmless.

Get yourself to an ENT asap! One who is experienced in diagnosing and treating cancer. Have the cancer diagnosis either confirmed or eliminated. Get busy!

Kit,
you've been to a CCC and they ruled out cancer. There are many things that could be causing hearing loss - infection, blocked or poorly draning eustacian tubes, sinusitus, allergies, even sudden exposure to loud noises, etc.

By all means go back to the ENT and get a Dx and Tx for this. If you don't respond to Tx in 2 weeks then you need to push it to the next level. Ask for an audiology axam while you are at it.

I wouldn't automaically assume that its cancer though, so take a deep breath, try to relax and make the appointment with the ENT.

Thanks. The ENT gave me an audiogram yesterday and I had minimal loss from that left ear. He told me to try and relax a little bit and if this weird stuff doesn't subside over time to go to a neurologist. Thanks for the advice folks.

Hello Kit.
I just scanned through ALL your 40-plus posts & responses. In close to thirty (30) of them the word biopsy is mentioned. It's been over a month now. And you still have doubt. Now I must ask again. DID YOU, OR DID YOU NOT GET A BIOPSY?

Negative Petey. This thing must be obviously benign to the doctors. The one was a oral surgeon at a CCC. They all said its a blocked salivary gland that has calcified and fused itself to the surrounding bone of my hard palate. He said the gland in my neck is fine and although it's slightly larger than the one on the opposite side, that it's perfectly normal.
So I'm going to just close my eyes, relax, and get on with my life. I'll still monitor that lump, how could I not, but I'm leaving this thing lay for a while. Just the scare of having this condition has taken it's toll on my family and I. I gotta trust the Dr.s and keep moving. Thanks for taking time to review my situation Petey. Congratulations on making the papers down there.

Ok Kit.
If a sureon at a CCC looked & said that, I quess it's ok. I'm all new to this myself, and not a Dr. But from reading these boards it was my understanding that no one can just "look" and call it benign or malignant. Maybe thats only if it's a lesion or whatever, that they must biopsy. I just did not want you, like many of us here to be walking around for months thinking all is fine. Then discover you had been miss-diagnoised and are in a late stage of cancer. If I were you, if any inkling of change takes place I would be in the hunt for any Dr. that would do a biopsy, PERIOD. No opinions, no diagnosis, just a biopsy. Even if it were a veterinarian. Good luck and wishing you well. PeteyB

I'm with you Petey. I'm not a Dr. either, that's why it's been hard for me to let this thing rest. I guess at some point you have to trust them. I went back to the one ent five times total, this last time I could tell he was frustrated with me. He flat out refused to biopsy that thing. I think he got the point that I wanted him to be sure that thing was nothing though. I'm not that old, but I've been around long enough to learn that you can't assume because someones an "expert" that they are infoulable. Here's a breakdown in order of the dr's I've seen about this thing: dentist, gp, ent, ent, dentist, ent, oral surgeon, and ent.

Kit

you are right drs are only human and it is human to err... So you have to let them know that you need a biopsy , if you have been to a ccc though , I am not sure what to tell you but I would follow up with all your symptoms ..somthing is up even if it isnt cancer it is somthing that needs treatment !
