The problem of tight jaw can be a very frustrating side-effect of radiation to the mouth. Not all patients suffer from it but you never know if you are the lucky one that can escape from it. During and after treatment, I practised opening and closing my mouth many times a day. Some patients end up with getting only one finger inside the mouth and I can still put 3 fingers and when I see the dentist, he doesn't have any problem treating my teeth, even though I feel a little bit pain when I open my mouth wide. Do address this problem before it is too late, just in case you are not so lucky. If something can be done to prevent something from getting worse, never hesitate to go for it.
