Brian, I know you are not in country right now and may not be able to answer this right away. But if you could explain a term from your response to another poster I would appreciate it.

You were speaking of recurrances being secondary in the brain and the aero digestive tract?? Please explain the aero digestive tract. I have been having problems and at this time have a lump in my stomach that is going down now but not away. I am in search of a gastro that will see me now instead of 3 weeks from now.

But when you get a chance if you would explain I would appreciate it.

Take care & good things only at MDA.
Dinah

Sorry I missed this post when I got back the other day. The aero digestive tract encompasses what you would expect, those portions of the anatomy associated with breathing and digestion. So for example the esophagus, the trachea, the pharynx, the larynx, the lungs, the stomach, etc. all would be considered components of the aero-digestive tract. Most are lined with the same types of tissue as the oral environment, and therefore are not only close to where the primary cancer has occurred, but are also made up of the typical type of tissue that SCC (the most common oral cancer type) is associated with.

Thank you so much for the reply Brian....Since Thursday I have had an ultrasound of the abdomen and a gastro appointment.
He says there are cysts on my liver and something else he's not sure of - so back over this morning for CT scan, chest, abdomen, pelvis. And blood work.
Now the waiting starts again.

Hope your MDA trip went well.

Take care,
Dinah
