I recently received my surgical biopsy report that included the following description of the lower gingava: Squamous mucosa, no tumor present.
Can anyone define squamous mucosa? I tried a lot of searches and can't find the two words used together.

Squamous cells line all the openings of the body that are exposed to the outside world. The mouth, anus, vagina, and more are lined with these moist cells. There is nothing ominous in what has been stated.
