Has anybody out there experience a connection with root canels and oral cancer occurance? I had a so called sinus infection and a root canal that kept giving me problems for years. The tooth was re-rooted at least twice and then just "unpacked" and left empty. This was fine and I had no pain until a new dentist re-rooted/repacked the tooth ... major pain came back. The tooth was removed just prior to the cancer diagnosis. Haven't had any sinus inffections since. Just oral cancer!...unknown.

There is no known correlation between endodontic procedures and oral cancer. This is an issue of coincidence and not causation.

Our problems started right after my husband had a root canal done. Coincidence?? We'll never know.

I like to look at it more as a blessing in desguise as we would have never known about the cancer if the endodontist had not nicked his tongue and caused it to get infected.

Thanks everybody for you input. The only bad pain I experienced before my diagnosis was due to a root canal. Recently this pain returned and I had those "it's back" blues. Some areas under my tongue and on my tonsel popped up and were "suspcious" and were biopsied. Just received the biopsy results and all is good.

Glad to hear that the suspicious areas came back good.
