Lazer after follow up in March as doc felt evevated CEA needs evaluation for other site possibilities. All this waiting...does anyone know about squamous papilloma? They are the most frequent benign tumor of the oral environment. When a papilloma has a raised cauliflower like surface, it may be the initial stage of verrucous carcinoma, this a malignant squamous tissue cancer. Squamous cell carcinomas also can also have a surface which has this appearance, and they are referred to as papillomatious keratinized SCC. I suggest you get a definitive diagnosis from your doctor which includes the complete name of what you have. If all you have is a squamous papilloma, that is good news, and you are out of the woods...... in this particular instance.
