hello all, i'm a newbie to this site. there are some wonderful posts on here. i am 5 mos post treatments for stage 2 tonsillar cancer. no surgery was done. my treatments consisted of 35 IMRT as well as 7 weeks of chemo 2 times a week. i still have my peg tube in because i can only eat light soups and such...still not enough to maintain my nutrition. i am wanting so badly to eat normally again and am depressed because i feel like i am not healing fast enough. my doctors say it will get better and i am hoping and praying that they are right. if any of you out there are ahead of me please respond and let me know how you are progressing. i can use the encouragement! thanks a bunch!

Nine years out. New normal with limitations, but surviving and living life to the fullest.

Hello, try not to get depressed about eating, from what I remember it was quite rough after the 7 weeks of radiation.....you will get better, little by little.....there is light at the end of the tunnel......There are some pretty good books on soft food, maybe that could help to get you started......Take Care, Carol

Hi and welcome to OCF! You're five mos post tx and Buzz is not yet two months out....You must remember that each person responds differently and at different rates...Just remember 'faster is not always better'...

You've been through a traumatic ordeal, your body must have time to heal....35 IMRT's and 7 wks chemo x 2 sounds horrendous! You must be very strong to have withstood such punishment!

Try to concentrate on your daily healing, and try not to compare your progress, or the lack of it, to others.

We're here for you, if you need us! Do stay in touch and let us know how you're doing...
