Thanks for the advice. I'll add that information posted when I get home from work. This is all new to me. (Not to mention a shock) I have always considered myself bullet proof due to being so darn strong and healthy. Nature sure has a strange sense of humor sometimes, doesn't it?

We all were in shock the first time we heard we had Oral cancer. So you are not alone with those feelings. Here you can talk about anything that you want, fear, anger, etc.

You can use the search engine at the top to help locate information. You will be able to meet all that you have mentioned. From the 1st step to the last. There are many here that will help you with any question you have.

Take care
Diane

Hi MK - So glad you found this site. It's a great place to be for lots of encouraging information and support - and not only for cancer survivors but for caregivers, too. I don't know what I would have done without the compassion and great advice I received here when my son and I were going thru the most difficult days! Tell us more about your treatment plan and what you've found out so far. And keep coming back!

MK,

What area of the throat specifically is involved? I have learned over time that "the throat" encompasses a lot of territory insofar as specific points cancer can hit.

There are actually two search functions on the site. The one at the top of these pages searches for information only in the message boards. At the bottom of the page is a link to the OCF home page, www.oralcancerfoundation.org, which has its own separate search engine -- Brian and others work tirelessly to make sure it contains the latest news articles, medical information, etc.

All the best,
Leslie

April 2006: Husband dx by dentist with leukoplakia on tongue. Oral surgeon's biopsy 4/28/06: Moderate dysplasia; pathology report warned of possible "skip effect." ENT's excisional biopsy (got it all) 5/31/06: SCC in situ/small bit superficially invasive. Early detection saves lives.
