Hello
my name is scott 40yo 20years of smoking. just quit today. six months ago i had a sinus infection that took a month to get rid of. i had my tonsils out when i was 22. last month i took a look in the back of my mouth at the hospital i work at. it looks like my tonsil on my right side grew back with other smaller red bumps around it. no pain, no swelling, but when i put my finger to feel around you could feel many bumps. i went back to my gp he gave me antibiotics . nothing happened. now my ear seems plugged all the time and when i turn my head to the right i feel something in there. i see a very highly recommended ent tomorrow. i just graduated nursing school and am awaiting to take my state boards, but this issue with my patch of small lumps is really upsetting. ive read at least a hundred posts tonight. guess my only question is if anyone had these similar symptoms before being diagnosed? I work in a medical surgical unit and see allot of radical neck disections. it scares the hell out of me.
guess ill know more tomorrow. if anyone has experiences or anything they would like to share with me i would love to hear from you. i think my email addy is avail to everyone.
thanks for reading this.
i just feel really scared.

Hi Scottinjersey,
I saw you post on another part of this site in reply to my husband and I going to the tumor board sept 7. I don't know how I found this posting about you, but I can understand the fear. After finding out Tom needs more surgery to clear margins (modified radical) he will need 6 wks of radiation treatment. He too had a plugged ear and was on antibiodics, but a lump in his neck was the giveaway. We have been told this is a curable cancer, but we both talked this morning and we are both still scared. Best of luck to you, keep us updated.
Barbara

Barbara,

Hi Scott,
Welcome to the forum. Scared is normal. We have all been there, done that. Sitting around waiting for results or the first appt is nerve racking at best. Give us an update on what the doctors said after you have your appt.

Take care,
Eileen
P.S. as you can see by my signature, I'm just down the street if I beleive your email address
