Dave, good to have you as a new member. You are surely well educated about all this stuff - but can pick up some "from experience" tips here - sometimes the patients seem to have a handle on issues that the doctors and researches don't pay attention to.

I'm really appreciating your and your girlfriend's questioning of the doctors. At almost three years out, my husband's ENT joked at the last appointment that he was going to have to start adding on a surcharge if we continued to arrive to appointments with zillions of questions.

No doubt...you are in for a rough ride but, with your good attitude and determintaion, you'll do great.

Dave,

You'll be very glad you found this group. Naturally, none of us wished to be here, but that be as it may we are here. I have found that a positive attitude goes a long way. My attitude was the same as yours appears to be. Let's get this over with so I can get on with the rest of my life.
Radiation for me was nothing. The dr's have to tell you all the bad things that can happen to you inorder to protect themselves from law suits. As you should well understand. When my oncologist finish explaining to me all that could go wrong I told him that nothing like that would happen to me. He said "I hope not". Well, fortunately nothing bad did happen and the radiation didn't effect me. After it was all over my dr, invited me to lunch and told me how much he believed that my very positive attitude was amazing and that had much to do with my success. He told me that he was glad I could call him a liar in regards to side effects. I only share this because a positive attitude is imperative. I'm not a lawyer, but I am a school administrator and the fear of the unknown is limited after you join this group of very caring persons. Best of Luck and take it a day at a time and it will be over before you know it.

thank you guys for all your encouragement. I feel really well today. My thrush has improved greatly and not a single mouth sore. I'm even hungry...yay!!

Brian, most of my early time was spent in Great Lakes Il, and then the hospital at Newport RI but then I choose to go to the field with a heavy weapons unit from the 1st/25 MAR DIV.

take care guys...
dave
