Hello,

Back in February I had a biopsy taken of a suspicious right buccal lesion, which returned as being mild dysplasia. That was 1.5 months ago. Today, the area where the cheek was cut is white and slightly rough with a little knot underneath. The knot has been there since one of the stitchs came out. I suspect that’s scaring. The whitish color disappears when I stretch the cheek out to look at it, and it becomes pink. There’s the línea alba, and the area where the sample was taken along that line which is where the white is. I just thought it would’ve turned back to pink by now, which would indicate healing, instead of a return of dysplasia.

All this prompts me to ask, does the mouth scar? I’ve scoured the internet for hours looking for information but I just can’t find anything.
It makes sense that an area that was cut would scar, but I don’t know.

I already have a follow up scheduled for in two weeks.
Just worried so very much.

Yes it could be scar tissue. If you are concerned, call and try to move up your appointment to a sooner date. Good luck!!!

Thank you Christine. I tried to get it scooted up but he’s on vacation and no one else works at his clinic. I guess I’ll just have to suspend fear and wait. I think the biggest thing is fighting the compulsion to look at it.
