Hello. I had neck dissection in 2012. I have been advised I need to remove a wisdom tooth and the docs have done a so-called panoramic dental x-ray.
On the x-ray image, there were two small white lines. The dental doc asked whether I had any surgery. I said yes. He said it was likely to be some sort of vessel connections, as I understood.

I moved the country since then and I do not get to see the same surgeon who did the neck dissection operation. So it is difficult for me to ask him what exactly it was but I am curious to know.

I wonder whether the experts of this forum have any idea what these small write lines on the x-ray were? If vessel connections, why would they make them etc? Is anyone familiar with this or are there any links to educate myself?

Thank you.

Hi Max, welcome to the forum. I’m afraid it’s not clear at all to me what your question is. Did you have your wisdom tooth taken out or are you still waiting for the procedure.

In addition, please understand that we are a group of patients, survivors and caregivers and we do not have any medical training nor are we medical professionals. We can’t really tell you what those white lines are or even hazard a guess. It would be very irresponsible of us. I would suggest going to a dentist in your new country and speak to him/her about your last dentist said. That way, you will be speaking to someone who has expertise and who can examine you.

Max, Gloria is correct... without medical training, years of patient and clinical experience its not possible for us to attempt to interpret an xray that we cant even see. Even if it was right in front of us, anything any of us could tell you about it wouldnt be something you would want to base your healthcare decisions on. Only medical professionals would have that degree of in-depth technical understanding to know what they were looking at on an xray. I suggest getting a second opinion from another dental professional and specifically ask them about the white lines.

Best wishes!!!
