Hi everyone. First off I'm sorry any of you are here. If you can reach out and grab some of my strength go for it. I'm willing to share. Ok no for the not fun part. My names Brian. I'm 37 married father of 5 kiddos. I haven't gotten very far and I'm just here with a question about my CT scan results. My doctor won't be back till tomorrow and when I google. I know bad idea. It basically pulls up very few options. So I figured I would try here. If you don't want to waste your time on someone undiagnosed I completely understand. But if I could get an opinion or 50 it would be awesome. The reason for the CT scan of my neck is because I have a swollen lymph node there. But neck CT just said it's normal size with fatty hilum whatever that is. A month ago I had chest abdomen pelvis CT that came back clear. My pcp is sending me because he is worried about lymphoma. But anyway here is what neck CT said. Asymmetric of piriform sinuses right greater than left probably anatomic variant. That was my impression. What do you think?

Welcome to OCF! Im very sorry you have a need for our help. Unfortunately, our site is made up of patients/survivors and caregivers. We do not have medical backgrounds with years of schooling, clinical experience and have learned the things we know first hand by going thru them. Im very sorry but we arent qualified to interpret and explain lab results written in medical jargon. Maybe all those medical terms are so only doctors can understand things? A swollen lymph node can be a sign of an infection or some illness or any number of things that arent serious medical conditions. Hopefully the results you get tomorrow will be good news smile

Good luck!!!

Nurse just called and said everything is normal. I asked her about what the impression said and she said it just meant 1 side was a different size than the other. She said my primary doc wanted to refer me to an infectious disease doctor. I told her why since both CT scans showed normal and I refused. Should I of taken the referral? Anyway good luck to everyone

Well, Missouri Dad, that's good news, isn't it? I would take the referral if there's any chance that I'm going to lose some sleep over this.

I hope it's good and educated. Only thing that worries me is the nurse said I must of had a runny nose that day is why it said asymmetric of piriform sinuses lol. No I'm done paying money for normal results. So I will take it

Congrats!!!! Thank you very much for taking the time to return and explain what your results meant! If it were me I'd still take the referral just in case the symptoms would change. Better to have it on hand and not need it than trying to get a referral in a hurry when you do.

Best wishes for no more scares and your continued good health smile

I'm thinking about it. I just wish he would of referred me to an ent. I never did say my symptoms. I have had a sore throat for months which I put off as my acid reflux. Night sweats ear pain. I've lost 50 pounds in 3 months without trying. Swollen lymph node in neck which CT said normal not swollen lol. I've had 2 cbc. All came back good. Auto lymphs a little high both times. Negative mono negative cat scratch. Abdomen chest pelvis CT normal except 18 cm liver which doctor said normal. Ct scan neck normal except asymmetric of piriform sinuses right greater than left probably anotomic variant. Which doctor just said normal. I just don't see what infectious disease doctor would do
