Once again I am overwhelmed at the support that I have found here I only wish I had found this site earlier, now I will do my best to help others if I can. Going in for surgery , radical neck, on wed so I will be away from this site for a week or so, a few days in the hospital then I will be staying else where to recoup, I will be back around hopefully with good news and some support for others.

Lenny, my father had tonsil cancer that meandered to a node. The surgery was a breeze. What was nerve racking is that they put him under first to biospy the primary. If it was positive, they weren't going to move ahead. Well, it was negative and his nodes were too. He was in the hospital for only 2 days. YOU WILL DO GREAT LENNY. It is so cliche but after what you've been through the surgery is nothing. Think positive, I will pray for you!

Hi Lenny,
Since you are looking for a long term survivor, I have mets to one lymph node in 1997 and am still around 'kicking butt'. That's what the neck dissection is about. Getting rid of it before it can do harm. You will probably need come PT a few weeks after surgery. You also will need to support your arm for a few weeks after the surgery so you don't get a drag on the shoulder while it is weak.

We'll all be thinking of you on the 11th.

Take care,
Eileen

Len,
I was in the same boat about 2 years ago. Exactly.
Sounds like you are on the right path with treatment.
The worst is over, believe me.

I am eating just about anything I want now.
Still have trouble with oranges real sour. Also, I need to stay away from real real hot stuff like Thai food etc. Other than that its all good.

Dry mouth, oh yea. Water bottle with me at all times, for sure. Glad to be alive, you betcha.

Look at the positive. Enjoy every breath.

Drop me a line if you need to talk.

Robert.
